What is BIM?
Building information modelling (or BIM) is a process based on models used for the architectural elements that go into a building, such as planning, design, construction and management. BIM models are a great alternative to CAD drawings. This is because BIM models are made up of intelligent objects that stay updated throughout the design even when changed, no matter who is working on it.
What is Revit and what can you do with it?
Revit is a piece of software used for architectural design and providing lots of BIM tools, to capture and communicate concepts, as well as precise design intent. With this software we can produce;
- Design and documentation
- Multi-discipline co-ordination
With the future moving towards collaborative design in shared 3D BIM models, CES has adapted our design philosophy away from the traditional M&E CAD department solution to align with architects. All our engineers and designers are 3D/Revit trained and draw as they design. This change embraces the new design standards without adding cost, and removes an unnecessary step in the drawing process, leading to better coordination.
